SUNDAY SCHOOL COAT & TOY DRIVE- December 7-21 

Please donate gently used coats, jacket, sweaters, and outerwear for families at Concourse House. We are also collecting unwrapped toys or books for boys and girls ages 5 to 16. Items collected will be presented and blessed on Sunday, December 21. This is a wonderful opportunity to involve your children of all ages in the Christmas spirit of giving. CHURCH OPEN FOR MEDITATION DURING ADVENT  
Saturday, December 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. & Sunday, December 21 until 5 p.m.
Christ Church Riverdale will be open for prayer, meditation and contemplation.  If you need a quiet place to escape the hustle and bustle of year end activities and experience the hope of the Christmas Season, come retreat and recharge.  Devotional materials are available at the back of the church.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE AT THE RECTORY

Friday, December 19, 6-9 p.m.
The entire parish is invited to celebrate the Christmas Season with food and fellowship at the Christ Church Rectory.  Please bring a dish or beverage to share.  Dessert items are also welcome.  No need to RSVP just drop in and enjoy. 

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT PREPARATION

One of the highlights of the Christmas Season at Christ Church Riverdale is the

Annual Christmas Pageant.  This year, it will take place during the

Sunday Worship Service on December 21. 

There will be one final rehearsal:  Saturday, December 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

If you would like your child to participate, please sign up with Marcia Callender or Sarah Stevenson.

CHRISTMAS FLOWER MEMORIALS- Due by December 20

Each Christmas, we decorate our church with fragrant balsam wreaths, trees and a glorious array of poinsettia plants.  Memorials of loved ones and thanksgiving for blessing can be expressed by contributions to the decorations of the church.  If you would like to support the decoration of the church, please complete the form for Christmas Flower Memorials which you received in the mail or which you can find on the Welcome Table.  Please mark your check "Christmas Flowers". 

PREPARATION OF THE CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS 

Saturday, December 20, 10 a.m.

Volunteers are asked to join the members of the Altar Guild to do general clean-up and help prepare the church for Christmas.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over but you will probably have some shopping to do on Amazon before the season is over.  If you go to our website, christchurchriverdale.org, and click on Links, you will be able to access Amazon.  A percentage of your purchase through this link will be sent to CCR.

COOKING FOR THE SHARING COMMUNITY

Thursday, December 18, 4 p.m.

On the Thursday of each month, a group of volunteers meets in the Parish Hall kitchen and prepares a meal for the Sharing Community of Yonkers.  If you would like to assist in this Outreach Program, please speak to Ryland Clarke.

CALLING FOR VESTRY NOMINATIONS

The Nominating Committee is soliciting names of CCR members, in good standing, who are interested in serving on the Vestry.  Elections will take place at the Annual Parish Meeting scheduled for January 25, 2015.  We will elect one warden and four vestry members.  Contact Geoff Doughlin, Chair at gdoughlin@gmail.com to nominate, or speak to one of the Committee Members:  Marcia Callender, Ryland Clarke, Michele Disco, Damaso Parets &

BECOMING AN EPISCOPALIAN

Father Andrew will be offering an Intergenerational Inquirers Class for anyone from Grade 8 through Adults.  Those interested  are invited to attend the remaining two classes following 11 a.m. worship.  Come learn, discuss, and consider.

On February 1, Bishop Stacy Sauls will preside at our 11 a.m. worship to confirm and receive new members into The Episcopal Church.

Sponsoring altar flowers is a special way to remember a loved one who has died, celebrate a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. Please visit the Flower Calendar on the bulletin board at the entrance to the Parish Hall, sign up on the calendar for the Sunday/s of your choice, fill in the form and follow the directions.
