Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service- Tuesday, November 25, 7 p.m.

The Annual Thanksgiving Service is sponsored by the Interfaith Clergy Conference of Riverdale, Kingsbridge, Spuyten Duyvil & Marble Hill.  It will take place at the Riverdale Presbyterian Church at 4765 Henry Hudson Parkway, Bronx NY 10471, 718 796 5560.


Holy Eucharist - Wednesday, November 26  at 7 p.m. in the Church.            

                               Sunday, November 30 at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

MUSIC

 

Call for Musicians

All musicians in the parish are invited to add their talents to our weekly worship.  Singers are invited to join the Adult Choir or Choristers.  String, wind or brass players who would like to perform a favorite selection should speak directly to our Director of Music, Nick Martellacci, or email him at nm11201@aol.com.  Keyboard players are welcome to play solo literature or help out with accompaniments.

FEEDING THE HUNGRY ON THANKSGIVING

 

The Sharing Community, Yonkers is hosting its annual Thanksgiving meal for close to 300 of the neediest members of their community.  They would appreciate donations.  Please mail your checks to P.O. Box 657, Yonkers, NY 10702.  

ALTERNATIVE GIFTS-  Sundays in Advent after each service

ESCAPING THE HUSTLE & BUSTLE

Saturdays & Sundays during Advent, 9a.m.-5p.m.

Christ Church Riverdale will be open for prayer, meditation and contemplation on Saturdays and Sundays during Advent.  If you need a quiet place to experience the hope of the Christmas Season and retreat from the commercialism of the Holiday Season, the Church will be open.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE AT THE RECTORY
Friday, December 19, 6-9p.m.

The entire parish is invited to celebrate the Christmas Season with food and fellowship at the Christ Church Rectory on Friday, December 19 from 6-9 pm. Please bring a dish or beverage to share.  Dessert items are also welcome.  No need to RSVP just drop in and enjoy. 
PEOPLE'S CLIMATE MARCH/
FAITH BASED ORGANIZING

 

Planning is underway for a vigil in NYC on Sunday, December 7.  This is a multi-faith effort to shift energy and advance the rights of people impacted by climate change.  A further purpose is to call on US political leaders to take ta lead role in crafting a global framework for the UN climate negotiations in Paris 2015.
For additional information, please contact JoAnne Kraus who is hoping to bring a group from CCR.

VESTRY 2015

 

The Nominating Committee is soliciting names of CCR members, in good standing, who are interested in serving on the Vestry.  Elections will take place at the Annual Parish Meeting scheduled for January 25, 2015.  We will elect one warden and four vestry members.  Contact Geoff Doughlin, Chair at gdoughlin@gmail.com to nominate, or speak to one of the Committee Members:  Marcia Callender, Ryland Clarke, Michele Disco, Damaso Parets & Clotilde Stenson.

BECOMING AN EPISCOPALIAN

 

Father Andrew will be offering an Intergenerational Inquirers Class for anyone from Grade 8 through Adults.  Those interested  are invited to attend three one-hour classes following 11 a.m. worship.  Come learn, discuss, and consider.

     January 4- Our Beliefs- Via Media and the Three Legged Stool

     January 18- Our Governance, Current Issues- The Big Tent!

On February 1, Bishop Stacy Sauls will preside at our 11 a.m. worship to confirm and receive new members into The Episcopal Church.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT PREPARATION

 

One of the highlights of the Christmas Season at Christ Church Riverdale is the Annual Christmas Pageant.  This year, it will take place during the Sunday Worship Service on December 21. 

There will be three rehearsals:  Sunday, December 7 and 14 during Sunday School and Saturday, December 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

If you would like your child to participate, please sign up with Marcia Callender or Sarah Stevenson by November 30.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

 

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming soon and you will probably have some shopping to do on Amazon before the season is over.  If you go to our website, christchurchriverdale.org, and click on Links, you will be able to access Amazon.  A percentage of your purchase through this link will be given to our church.

Please visit the Flower Calendar on the bulletin board at the entrance to the Parish Hall, sign up on the calendar for the Sunday/s of your choice, fill in the form and follow the directions.
